OahuMPO Staff Attend Career Day at Aliamanu Elementary School

Mar 19, 2024 | MPO News

On Friday, March 15, the Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (OauMPO) team, including Senior Community Planner Samantha Lara, Transportation Planner Chelsea Dau, and Assistant Transportation Planner Lily Zheng were invited to present at Aliamanu Elementary School. They provided an interactive presentation to four classes of fifth graders about the role of MPOs, transportation planning, and offered insights into the day-to-day life of a transportation planner. During this session, OahuMPO staff also facilitated discussions with the students and distributed prizes.

At the start of the presentation, students were asked to identify the mode of transportation they used to get to school that day. At the end of the presentation, they were asked to envision their ideal mode of transportation. The results of this activity are shown below. The data gathered from this event will be included as we develop the next long-range transportation plan!
